Quite a challenge to rig these realistic CG birds, blue footed boobies native of the Galapagos. The rigs needed a range of motion that would allow animator Conor Ryan to mimic their real life counterparts. Rigging details in the feet made sure they could wrap across rocks and uneven surfaces.

The wings were probably the most difficult thing to rig since they needed to fold elegantly against the body. The trickiest part were not only the feathers but also adjusting the original model proportions and joints placement over and over until the final posed and rendered birds match the real ones.
